How to tell a view on AI and jobs from a commitment

Two checks for the rest of conference season, and one for anyone who passes work on.

Look for the document, not the speech. A minister saying AI will cost jobs is a view. A remit, a plan or a budget line that names it is a commitment. Ask which one you are hearing.

Read the remit yourself. Every minister's responsibilities are on gov.uk under their title. The AI minister's runs to two short lists and takes a minute.

If you pass work on, check who does it. Where you are paid to supply work and hand any of it to someone else, the right to work check can fall to you, even for a substitute you never meet.
