Three things to do with a badge

Find out what the certificate certifies. A course that takes twenty minutes and ends in a badge is worth taking and worth being clear-eyed about. If everyone can hold it, it is a condition of entry rather than an advantage, and it should be budgeted as such.

Watch the salary line, not the advert count. A skill appearing in more job adverts tells you it is now expected. What it is worth shows up in the pay offered alongside it, and for AI skills in Britain that line has been going the wrong way.

Ask what still takes years. Scarcity is mostly a function of time. When deciding where to spend a serious stretch of your working life, the question worth asking is not what is in demand this quarter, but what nobody can acquire quickly.
