From the editor
Three things tonight's edition says you can actually do with the evening that is yours.
Buy British strawberries this week. They are at their brief two-week peak and cheap with it; macerate a punnet with a little sugar, a drop of balsamic and a twist of black pepper, and let the season do the cooking for you.
Go to the small venue near you. The grassroots rooms where British music is made are closing at thirty a year, and the surest way to keep one open is unglamorous: turn up on a quiet night, pay in at the door, and buy a drink.
Give yourself the soft evening, without guilt. Tonight of all nights, a low-stakes book or a gentle drama is less escapism than rehearsal — a small, honest practice run at the life we keep saying we want.
