**I. Check your fix date before you check the football.** Fixed-rate mortgages slipped back under 4% this week as borrowing costs eased; if a remortgage was already on your list, getting quotes now rather than later is reasonable.
**II. Treat "everyone's buying it" as a question, not a signal.** The people who bought the rocket at the top are underwater; before following a crowd into the next big listing, the useful move is to ask what you would need that money for, and when.
**III. Put the games you care about in the diary on purpose.** Scotland play today; England return Tuesday at 9pm. A tournament is better chosen than caught.
