Know what your pension actually holds. The big AI listings coming this year will reprice the US tech shares most workplace pensions and SIPPs are quietly heavy with; ten minutes on your fund's top-holdings factsheet tells you your exposure before the market does it for you.

Shop your forecourt. Pump prices are falling, but slower than they should be, and the government's Fuel Finder shows nearby stations varying by 20p a litre or more — so check before you fill rather than after.

If you are remortgaging, line up your quotes before lunch. The Bank announces at noon and is expected to hold, but the guidance moves mortgage pricing either way; having quotes ready means today's decision does not catch you flat.

The Playbook is general information, not financial, legal or tax advice.

◆ The question underneath

The Playbook turns the edition's analysis into what a competent friend would actually do about it — process, never position.
